Stephen Amell Is No Green Arrow In Short Shorts For His New Starz Show
Stephen Amell is widely known by superhero fans for his role as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on the long-running series Arrow. That time in his life, however, has come to a close, and he’s now set his sights on a new show for STARZ entitled Heels. While the show is far different from the superhero fare he’s has given us over the past several years, it will give him the chance to let his wrestling fandom go wild. Now, Amell has released a new behind-the-scenes image from the show, and the former Green Arrow is sporting short shorts!
In a recent Twitter post, Stephen Amell expressed his gratitude in being able to return to production on Heels and praised the crew that’s been assembled. He also shared a photo, presumably of his character taking a stroll, and the short shorts are in full effect. Check out the actor’s post down below:
Not many people can pull off short shorts, but Stephen Amell seems to have the look down just fine. Given that his character is an athlete, they’re likely the optimal training attire. Still, it’s somewhat funny to see him sporting something as simple as these and not an emerald green costume. Although fans may want to get ready, because the actor has also confirmed that we’ll see him wear a speedo in the upcoming series as well.
Amell first teased that production on Heels was moving forward back in August when he shared a photo of the show’s logo. Around that same time, he also shared another post that showed he’d be sporting short hair for the series.
But if you’re assuming the actor is only focusing on his looks when it comes to developing his Heels character, think again. He’s been training hard for the role and, by the looks of it, he’s working out with some of the best. In addition, Amell is had made time to bond with his on-screen brother, Alexander Ludwig.
Heels is a wrestling drama set in Georgia that centers on brothers (and rivals) Jack and Ace Spade, played by Amell and Ludwig, respectively. The show chronicles their family-owned wrestling league and each brother’s attempts to claim their late father’s legacy. Joining Amell and Ludwig in the cast are Kelli Berglund, Alison Luff Robby Ramos and Mary McCormack. As of right now, STARZ has not set an official release date for Heels.
It’s good to see that things are moving right along on Heels and that Stephen Amell seems to be enjoying his time working on the show. It’s hard to say when we’ll get our first official look at the series (and Amell in that speedo) but, until then, he can definitely keep these nice tidbits coming.
