Ellen DeGeneres Pitched A KUWTK Spinoff To Khloe Kardashian, And The Video Is All The Nightmares
Millions of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fans were no doubt disappointed when the news broke in September that the marquee reality series would be coming to an end after Season 20. All the cast members responded to the news in their own unique ways, of course, with everyone basically agreeing that it felt like the right time to close out that chapter of their lives. Of course, there's always room at E! for spinoffs, and Ellen DeGeneres presented Khloé Kardashian with her own idea for a KUWTK follow-up project, which is 100% pure nightmare fuel.
Having only recently revealed that she was diagnosed with COVID-19 when the latest season was filming – the latest trailers tease how that will play out on Keeping Up with the Kardashians itself – Khloé Kardashian talked about that and more upon her visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday. Having taken a day off earlier this week, leaving DJ tWitch to show off his interview skills, DeGeneres was back in a big-cleavaged way for her Kardashian interview. If you dare, check out the video below, with the pure terror arriving at around the :50 mark. Maybe watch with only one eye open...
I technically wouldn't put it past E! to order up a Keeping Up with the Kardashians parody spinoff starring Ellen DeGeneres, to give the talk show host something truly silly to spend her time on, if nothing else. That said, all the negative rumors and backlashes that went down over the summer and beyond have led to The Ellen DeGeneres Show facing series lows in the ratings, so E! would possibly be better off finding replacement projects elsewhere. I mean, obviously no one should turn Keeping Up with Karla into a reality, because OMG burn the TVs burn the TVs burn the TVs! Ahem, where was I?
Oh yeah, I was talking about to continue talking about how mother-effing frightening Ellen's Karla character is. (Or would it be "kharakter?") I'll definitely give Ellen DeGeneres credit for going all out on looking like a blissfully unaware goon in the video, with heavily made-up eyes opened wide enough to see everything, while mentally grasping nothing. A classic look here:
I can imagine it might be slightly insulting for Khloé Kardashian to see this kind of spoof video that basically plays up the Kardashian family's accentuated body parts without any further depth to the concept. But then this is hardly the first time that the reality TV superstars have been the target of pop culture barbs, and Ellen's video wasn't so much insulting as it was a horrifying visual experience.
Admittedly, I did dig some of the video effects on display, and I maybe wish this duplicating effect happened when I look into mirrors, although that would probably also be scary for more than one reason.
Sure, maybe I'm overreacting about Ellen DeGeneres' faux Keeping Up with the Kardashians spinoff video. Maybe it wasn't the scariest thing on TV since Channel Zero's Pretzel Jack. Maybe it won't incite riots and the end of days. But if it DOES, then I won't be sticking around to say "I told you so."
