Model Ashley Graham Candidly Reveals How Her Cleavage Looks So Great For Magazine Photos
It’s not easy to look as notable as models do on runways and in magazine spreads. Plus-size model Ashley Graham has often been candid about the work it takes to get model ready for the camera and in a new behind-the-scenes look at her Vogue Italia spread, she showed her fans exactly how she gets her cleavage to look so good for her magazine photo shoots.
First and foremost, if you haven’t seen the Vogue magazine that unites Ashley Graham with Paloma Elsesser, Jill Kortleve and Alva Claire, there’s a lot of cleavage going on. And not the kind of cleavage that’s securely tucked into a dress. In particular, Ashley Graham has her coat totally open in the fashion shot, which from the outside may seem very brave.
I know Ashley Graham is stationary while taking the photo, and I would assume a little tape was involved so she didn’t flash a bunch of strangers and fellow models for the Vogue shoot. Regardless, Graham actually took things a step further and showed us exactly how much tape it takes to make an open coat look, such as the one she’s sporting in Vogue Italia, work.
It’s quite a bit more tape than I was anticipating, honestly, even though I've seen tape like this work in the industry for red carpet events in the past. Given the alternative would have been herself and the other models walking around and holding their coats closed on the fashion shoot set, I’m really happy to see she was securely tucked in to the look so she could be comfortable and look fabulous at the same time. You can also see her gamely dub the whole getup as “fashion” in an Instagram video, which can be seen as part of the montage below.
One of the reasons the new Vogue Italia issue is so striking is because it is spotlighting four plus-sized models in the industry as more and more models of varying sizes are pushing into the mainstream. On that note, Ashley Graham mentions in her post this has been a positive change for the fashion industry as a whole during her time as a model. Graham was discovered as a model all the way back in 2000, and subsequently became the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of the famous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Ashley Graham has been at the forefront of industry change, particularly for the plus-size model movement, for quite some time. A lot of her efforts have been focused on body positivity in the fashion industry and with her fanbase as well. She’s not been afraid to bare all online, nor is she afraid to respond to her critics. In short, I can’t wait to see what she does next.
