Four Months After Breaking Back, American Idol's Simon Cowell Is Jet-Skiing Like A Champ
Four months ago, Simon Cowell injured himself at his home when he fell off his brand-new motorbike and broke his back. Shortly after the incident, Cowell underwent a six-hour surgery, which reportedly went well. Still, there was some uncertainty regarding the extent of the injury to his back. While the America’s Got Talent host may have needed some time to rest up, recent photos that show him jet-skiing would indicate that he’s doing just fine now.
The 61-year-old Simon Cowell was recently spotted in Barbados where he and longtime partner Lauren Silverman were enjoying themselves at Brandon's Beach and Rascal's Waterpark. The images (via ET) show Cowell driving the jet ski and living his best life.
Needless to say, Simon Cowell seems to be coming along quite well since he first suffered his injury. According to the trade, Cowell once mentioned that he was actually recovering “ahead of what was expected.” Sources also say he’s also staying active by doing 10,000 steps a day and getting back to his swimming routines.
In addition to being physically spry, the TV personality also seems to be experiencing a boost in his creative output, as he’s reportedly working on ideas for his existing TV shows and creating ideas for other ones. So I don’t know about you all, but this definitely sounds like the Simon Cowell we all know.
While Cowell seems to be doing well now, reports claim that things were looking a bit scary in the immediate aftermath. At one point, friend and ex-flame Sinitta said that Cowell was walking constantly to reassure himself that he hadn’t been paralyzed. In a previous statement, she also expressed her own concerns for him, especially due to the lockdown instituted earlier in the year:
At the time, Cowell was also forced to step away from his duties on America’s Got Talent. Thankfully, the show was able to add American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson to fill in for him during his absence. One of the show’s contestants even paid an odd bit of tribute to Cowell following the incident.
It’s good to see that Simon Cowell is bouncing back after what appears to have been a pretty serious injury. Coming back from injury, especially when you’re someone who loves to be as active as Cowell is, can’t be easy. With this, we’ll likely see him back at the judge’s table when America’s Got Talent returns.
