Longtime (And Newly Mustachioed) YouTube Personality Tyler Oakley Announces Lengthy Break From Making Videos
Tyler Oakley, known for creating YouTube video content from his teenaged years onward, is finally taking a much-needed break. The star, who is also known for appearing on CBS’ Amazing Race, recently shared with fans he’s leaving the social media platform… at least for a while. The (fairly) newly mustachioed author and vlogger also gave fans a helpful tip for how to keep an eye out for new content when he makes his triumphant return down the line.
In a lengthy post, Tyler Oakley touched on him about the frustrations of 2020 as well as all of the stuff that he’s been up to over the last year noting that while he got to do a few things most of his plans were foiled by the pandemic. He needs a little “excitement” in his life, so, he’s taking a break from the world of YouTube, saying,
He’s not the first and likely won’t be the last person to take a hiatus from or quit YouTube, but Tyler Oakley has long been one of the most enduring personalities on YouTube, dropping his first video back in October of 2007, so this is big news. If you know anything about Tyler Oakley, you may know that he’s trained his followers on YouTube to look out for new content on Tuesdays. Obviously, with this hiatus, that will no longer be an option. However, if you do plan to follow Oakley in the future, he has some advice.
As for Tyler Oakley’s mustache, it’s been a Covid addition this year. He spent much of the summer growing out the look and now it finally looks impressive. Previously, at one point, Oakley told his followers that the “mustache was growing on” him and at another point he even dyed it out like so many other people experimenting with color in 2020.
According to Tyler Oakley, he is “in no way leaving YouTube forever.” He “will be back,” at some point when we least expect it, just like Arnold Schwarzenegger always does with his Terminator character. We’ll keep you posted when that happens, but in the meantime, we just need all the ‘stache updates. See ya around, Tyler.
