Netflix’s Virgin River Renewed For Season 3 And There Are Already Two New Cast Members
Virgin River fans, the wait is finally over! Well, almost, anyway, as we at least can now confirm that the small town romantic drama will, in fact, return to Netflix for Season 3! The second season of the show, which is based on the long-running series by author Robyn Carr, debuted the day after Thanksgiving, so while the wait for a renewal has seemed very long, it turns out that Netflix has actually taken it pretty easy on us. While it's very good to hear that we'll be getting more of Virgin River in the near-ish future, there's even more good news, as Season 3 will bring us two brand new characters to follow.
According to Deadline, Virgin River Season 3, which will be another 10-episode season, will see all of our favorites return, but will also add Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber to the cast as close relatives of some well-established main characters. Allen has been signed on as a series regular for the new season to portray Brie, who just so happens to be Jack's lawyer sister, and is described as being "smart, hard-charging, ballsy and a whole lot of fun." Farber is on tap to recur in Season 3, and will play Tara Anderson, meaning that we will, finally, get to meet Lilly's older daughter who's been helping to care for her mom's new baby and her youngest sibling, Chloe.
While I don't remember too many previous mentions of Jack's sister Brie, if you've seen the Season 2 finale of Virgin River, it's clear why she's going to show up. Jack was in a very tough spot by the end of the final episode, and if you can't have family show up for you when something like that goes down, then when can you expect them to head to a remote California town for you? Mel will, undoubtedly, be by Jack's side when Season 3 starts, but he's been known to be stubborn, and she'll likely need some help from Brie to keep him in line.
As for Tara, we've been hearing a bit about her since Virgin River solved the mystery of the abandoned baby in Season 1. It turned out that recently widowed Lilly, who'd isolated herself on her family farm in the months since her husband's death, had given birth without anyone knowing. Mel, Doc Mullins, Hope, and others were eventually able to convince the scared new mother (who has four grown children) to raise the baby, and she's been doing so with the help of Tara ever since.
Zibby Allen has appeared on several well-known shows since her screen debut in 2003, including Without a Trace, The Daily Show, Bates Motel, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Flash, but is probably best recognized for playing Nurse Zibby on and off through the first eight seasons of Grey's Anatomy. Stacey Farber has been acting since she was a child, and made a name for herself by starring on Degrassi: The Next Generation from 2002 through 2009. She's also had notable roles in Rookie Blue, Grace and Frankie, Saving Hope, Animal Kingdom, and Schitt's Creek, and will be seen on the upcoming Arrowverse series Superman and Lois.
While we don't know right now when Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber will bring their new characters to Virgin River Season 3, it sounds like Brie and Tara will be pretty important to the action this time around. Season 3 of Virgin River is still without a release date, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest on this and everything in TV, movies and pop culture!
