How The Mandalorian Season 2 Honored Boba Fett Actor Jeremy Bulloch
The Star Wars family unfortunately lost a few members last year like David Prowse, who physically portrayed Darth Vader in the original trilogy. The franchise also lost another veteran in Jeremy Bulloch, the actor who famously played the iconic Boba Fett. As with Prowse, tributes poured in for Bulloch following his passing, with one even coming from the actor who portrayed Fett in Attack of the Clones. The Mandalorian Season 2 brought Boba Fett back to stunning life, and the show has found a sweet way to honor the man who first donned the iconic bounty hunter armor.
Jeremy Bulloch passed away on December 17, the day before The Mandalorian Season 2 closed out its second season. In the time since the episode first aired, it appears that the team behind the show has dedicated the finale to Bulloch’s memory. This was evidenced by an acknowledgement in the closing credits. You can check it out for yourself down below:
The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, “Chapter 16: The Rescue,” was praised by critics and fans. The episode saw Din Djarin and his allies take the fight to the villainous Moff Gideon and rescue the adorable infant Grogu. And in the show’s closing moments, the Force-sensitive child said goodbye to Mando and left with none other than Luke Skywalker, who arrived to take Grogu to begin his Jedi training.
The producers honestly couldn’t have chosen a better episode to dedicate to Jeremy Bulloch. The actor’s appearances as Boba Fett always stirred up excitement in fans, and this episode did that very thing.
Jeremy Bulloch originally appeared as Boba Fett in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Though the actor had limited screen time, his cool look and stoic presence resonated with viewers, and his performance helped make the character a staple within pop culture. Bulloch would also return to the world of Star Wars in 2005 when he played Captain Jeremoch Colton in Revenge of the Sith.
While Bulloch may no longer be with us, Lucasfilm is making sure that the legacy of Boba Fett lives on. Following the character’s appearance in The Mandalorian, he will next appear in his own series, The Book of Boba Fett, which is set to arrive this December. Plot details are scarce, but it would appear that Temuera Morrison’s Fett will be diving into new adventures with Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand.
The legacy of Boba Fett is in good hands, but it’s still good to see that the minds behind Star Wars are paying tribute to the actor who originated the role. Jeremy Bulloch certainly won’t be forgotten, and his work is sure to be enjoyed for generations to come.
