My Big Fat Fabulous Life: Whitney And Buddy's Move-In Dilemma Is Way Too Dramatic
Warning! The following contains spoilers for the My Big Fat Fabulous Life episode "The Buddy System." Read at your own risk!
My Big Fat Fabulous Life was dramatic enough when Chase Severino ended his engagement to Whitney Way Thore after getting another woman pregnant, but things have really kicked into overdrive as of late. It's thanks in large part to her friendship with Buddy Bell and the weird dynamic these two have cultivated that is about as committed as one can get without an actual relationship.
The latest drama is that Buddy broke up with his new girlfriend, which led Whitney to believe he was ready to move in with her on a more permanent basis. This was not at all what Buddy wanted, and when he informed Whitney he'd likely be heading back to his place in Greensboro and not stay with her in Charlotte, she became distraught. Whitney couldn't stand the thought of being lonely with her breakup with Chase still fresh and couldn't believe Buddy would put her in that situation.
Those who watch My Big Fat Fabulous Life may be desensitized to the situation because, let's be honest, it's nothing new that Buddy and Whitney fight like this. It's a large part of the reason why some speculate the two will end up together, though both are on the record saying their relationship is not romantic. That said, their relationship has created a codependency that makes straightforward conversations like the one in the latest episode all too dramatic.
Whitney and Buddy's relationship is also impacting their own love lives. As Buddy confirmed in the latest episode, his recent breakup involved a fight in which his girlfriend was mad about him making salads for Whitney. Then there's the fact that the season opened up with Whitney admitting there was some tension between Chase Severino and Buddy and that the two didn't really seem to get along with each other.
Buddy and Whitney don't want to be together romantically, but that they're often together as friends seems to create tension in their relationships. Obviously, I'm only judging what My Big Fat Fabulous Life will show me, but it seems like some distance between them wouldn't be the worst thing at the moment. The real question is whether either will allow it or if these two friends will continue to be the inseparable pair that won't date even though they fight like a deeply committed couple.
My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs on TLC Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET, with more drama sure to unfold as the weeks pass with the latest twists in the life of Whitney Way Thore. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for all the latest on the franchise and television and movie news.
