What 9-1-1: Lone Star's West Wing Reunion Means For Owen In Season 2
9-1-1: Lone Star had a lot to live up to in delivering some of the same intensity as its predecessor, and it's fair to say that Fox's 9-1-1 spinoff has risen to the challenge. Season 2 features a volcano, high stakes, and even star Rob Lowe reuniting with a former co-star from The West Wing. Season 2 of the series will welcome actress Lisa Edelstein to the production, but how will her role impact Lowe's Owen in Season 2?
As we previously reported, Lisa Edelstein will enter 9-1-1: Lone Star as Owen's ex-wife Gwyneth Morgan. Executive producer and co-showrunner Rashad Raisani spoke to TVLine about Gwyneth's appearance and shared how this reunion will impact Owen in Season 2.
Gwyneth, who is described as a "powerhouse attorney from New York City," arrived in Austin after learning T.K. (the son of Owen and Gwyneth) was shot. It appears Season 2 will feature some rekindled romance between the two characters, though there's a clear tease from Rashad Raisani that this romance could go south very quickly. Usually, when a couple gets divorced, there are multiple complex reasons for it, so the source of that split may come into play should things get messy between the two.
Rashad Raisani also teased the dynamic between Rob Lowe and Lisa Edelstein and properly sold the dynamic as must-watch television. The co-showrunner said Edelstein brings "sauciness, wit, warmth, and soul" to 9-1-1: Lone Star and that the scenes she shares with Rob Lowe feature chemistry that is "the stuff of legend."
The acclaim for the duo's chemistry is not too surprising for The West Wing fans, who know the two have played lovers in the past. House veteran Lisa Edelstein played Laurie, who was the love interest of Rob Lowe's Sam Seaborn in Season 1. Their reunion should be something cool for audiences to see, regardless of their characters' past drama, provided the chemistry is as good as teased here.
9-1-1: Lone Star airs on Fox Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the series and the latest in television and movies.
