By now, most of us are feverishly anticipating one thing: getting to the part of the year where we can watch brand new Bridgerton episodes whenever Season 2 comes out. The romantic drama has taken over the public consciousness as few television shows have, and with viewers being so enamored of everything from the costumes, all of the big finale reveals, finding historical mistakes, and fawning over the sparkling dialogue, fan love for the sexytimes has gained even more prominence. Apparently, those special scenes led Ashton Kutcher to think his Bridgerton-fan wife, Mila Kunis, was actually watching porn.
Anyone who's peeped Bridgerton Season 1 knows that the show has some very...enthusiastic love scenes. While one, in particular, drove fans crazy because of the wonderfully anachronistic use of a string version of a Taylor Swift song, pretty much all of them are well worth their screen time. According to an interview the couple did recently on Today with Hoda & Jenna (via Insider), there was a lot of confusion for Ashton Kutcher one night as Mila Kunis was trying to catch up on Bridgerton. As they told the hosts:
Kutcher: Tell her what happened last night!Kunis: So, I'm on Episode 5, for anyone who's seen it, y'all are aware what happens...Last night, I clearly stayed up until midnight. I was like, 'What's happening in this show?' He's dead asleep, wakes up in the peak of the fifth episode, and - this might be TMI for morning - but he literally looks at me and says, 'Are you watching a porno?' He was so confused about what was happening.Kutcher: She's watching in the middle of the night. I didn't know what was going on. I was like, 'Is there somebody else in the bed?' It was terrifying!
Oh, boy. Remember that special sexy scene I mentioned above which involved a very Regency era-sounding T. Swizzle song? Well, the Bridgerton Episode 5 scene that Mila Kunis is talking about is the prelude to that, and happens at the very end when Daphne and Simon finally get to enjoy their first night of wedded bliss.
As you might imagine, along with the beautiful mood lighting and some nudity, there's also a lot of moaning, sighing and excited / confused groaning, so it makes complete sense that Ashton Kutcher would think that Kunis had turned their bedroom into "porno" central while he was asleep beside her.
Obviously, Kutcher isn't the only one to equate the Bridgerton sex scenes with porn. Even though he hadn't actually seen the semi-graphic scenes in question, and can't be blamed for assuming all of the moaning which woke him up was way naughtier than it was in reality, there are plenty of folks who did watch the whole thing and deemed it saucy enough to pirate and put on legitimate porn sites. Which you'd be correct in thinking has made the actors who filmed those scenes less than happy.
But, honestly, as long as you know what's up with Bridgerton's obviously very well-thought out and totally choreographed sexytimes, there's nothing wrong with enjoying how they further the story.
Bridgerton Season 2 is said to be filming this spring, so we might actually be able to watch the new episodes by the end of this year.
