Reese Witherspoon Had The Funniest Reaction After Finally Getting In On The Netflix Bridgerton Obsession
Alright, let’s just get this out of the way. We’ve all pushed play on Bridgerton and it isn’t anything to be ashamed about. It’s a blast of a series that just happens to be oozing with steamy scenes. The Netflix series is one of the streaming service’s most successful shows to date, still currently ranking in its Top 10 after over a month since its release. Hey, even Reese Witherspoon is checking it out.
The actress, producer and business woman confirmed that she got in on Bridgerton too over on Instagram, sharing a perfect throwback picture of herself to show that she’s a little bit obsessed with the period drama too. Better late than never! Check it out:
She gets it! Nothing like watching Bridgerton to suddenly get us looking at period dresses and afternoon picnics during our downtime. Reese Witherspoon shared she is a fan of the Netflix show with a still from her 2002 film The Importance of Being Earnest. The adaptation of the Oscar Wilde play is not exactly Bridgerton, but does involve frilly dresses and mistaken identities that might make Lady Whistledown grab her pen.
It’s fun to see Reese Witherspoon get into the show too. We can just imagine the Legally Blonde star reacting to all its gasp-worthy moments on her off days. She shares her fandom with the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson and the over 82 million households around the world who watched the series in its first month on Netflix. Now all I can think about is how I want to see a reaction series with the characters from Big Little Lies!!
Bridgerton’s huge popularity is unsurprising, as it is based on an already popular book series by Julia Quinn, along with being developed by one of the most trusted women in network TV: Shonda Rhimes. And what better for quarantined Netflix fans looking for something more juicy to bite out of on their televisions? The series has become so popular that its sex scenes have been pirated on to porn sites.
As a result of Bridgerton’s huge numbers, the series has already been greenlit for a second season, set to begin shooting this spring. To go along with the books, the upcoming season will revolve around Anthony Bridgerton instead of having such a heavy focus on Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page’s Daphne and Simon. Audiences definitely got to witness the ins and outs of the couple’s love story thus far and given they are off the social market, we’re curious about how the show will proceed.
Do you think Reese Witherspoon would ever guest star on the series? She’d be great. The show already nabbed Julie Andrews as the narrator, so who knows! Witherspoon has her hands quite full getting ready to reprise her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 3 and as Bradley Jackson on Season 2 of The Morning Show on AppleTV+. Welcome to the Bridgerton club, Reese!
