How WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris Is Giving Us Hope About Darcy’s Fate After Episode 6
WandaVision is quickly heading towards its conclusion and, based on the current state of the series, the season is going to go out with a bang. Episode 6, a Halloween-themed episode, ended with Wanda expanding “the Hex” that surrounds Westview, New Jersey in order to save Vision, who attempted to leave the static-enclosed town to get help. But in the process, Wanda engulfed several S.W.O.R.D. agents, and Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis into the Hex. Many fans are sure to be worried about what’s become of Darcy now that she’s likely under Wanda’s mental control. But Monica Rambeau herself, Teyonah Parris, is now giving us a bit of hope regarding the fate of our favorite wisecracking astrophysicist.
Ahead of the Hex’s expansion, Monica Rambeau, Darcy Lewis and Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo experienced a betrayal at the hands of acting S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward, who had them thrown out of the S.W.O.R.D. base for questioning his authority. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris, and she provided some keen insight into Monica’s mindset about the betrayal:
Teyonah Parris feels that Monica saw Hayward’s move coming, but the sting of the betrayal is certainly still there. As Parris mentioned, both Jimmy and Darcy have been key allies in Monica’s attempts to reach Wanda and resolve the Westview Anomaly. So it wasn’t too surprising that the three decided to stick together after being ousted.
Now, that tight unit is down one person, as Wanda’s intense desire to maintain her reality only increases. But Teyonah Parris provided some further sentiments that will probably make you feel better about Darcy’s chances of survival:
So it looks like fans won’t be able to count Darcy out just yet, and let’s not forget she’s been in her fair share of crazy situations before. She was once trapped in a small New Mexico town that was being attacked by the Destroyer, and she even had to help fend off Malekith and the Dark Elves in London a few years later.
Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis make up one of the best parts of WandaVision. The trio of heroes have great chemistry, and it’s been fun to watch these three very different personalities ban together to fix this situation. Of course, from here, things are only going to get more dangerous and unpredictable.
We’ll learn what’s happened to Darcy and the answers to other lingering questions as we venture into the final stretch of WandaVision, which premieres new episodes Fridays on Disney+.
