Kim Kardashian Filed For Divorce From Kanye West After Six Years Of Marriage
Rumors of marital troubles between Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West were circulating for months before news broke that they were headed toward divorce, and now Kardashian has made the move to split official. Kardashian has filed for divorce from West after six years of marriage.
Kim Kardashian requests joint physical and legal custody of her four children with Kanye West, according to TMZ, which cites sources with direct knowledge of the situation stating that West is on board with joint custody. The soon-to-be exes are said to be committed to co-parenting their kids, with neither intending to contest the prenuptial arrangement. They're reportedly already working on a property settlement agreement.
The filing comes despite efforts by Kim Kardashian to debunk rumors of trouble within the marriage as recently as November, when she clapped back at people claiming that Kanye West wasn't present at her birthday party, which came after she shared the ghost hologram of her father that West gave her on her birthday. Rumors later spread that West didn't stay at Kardashian's party for long, showing up late and leaving early.
Less than a month after Kim Kardashian shared the photo of her with Kanye West at her birthday party, however, they were reportedly living separate lives, even if not necessarily on the road to divorce just yet. Sources claim that Kardashian was ready to end their marriage in 2020 after West dropped a series of comments about her family on Twitter but didn't take action because he was struggling with his bipolar disorder.
Later reports suggest that West is "sick" of his involvement with Kris Jenner and the rest of the extended Kardashian/Jenner family. Despite what appeared to be some tension between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in 2020, ET cites a source that claims "no drama" about the situation, saying:
Reports of an amicable split come shortly after alleged news that Kanye West was sad, anxious, and not doing well despite knowing the marriage is over. At the time of writing, neither Kim Kardashian nor Kanye West has commented on Kardashian filing for divorce on social media. They married back in May 2014, with the divorce filing coming just a few months ahead of the seventh marriage anniversary. They share four children: 7-year-old North, 5-year-old Saint, 3-year-old Chicago, and 1-year-old Psalm.
Kim Kardashian filing for divorce from Kanye West is the latest development in their relationship, but surely not going to be the latest. Check back with CinemaBlend for updates, as well as the latest news in TV and movies.
