Bridgerton’s Intimacy Coordinator Reveals Her Favorite Steamy Sex Scene From The Show, And It's A Good One

Phoebe Dynevor in Bridgerton

Months after its debut on Netflix, Shondaland's Bridgerton is still making some major waves and reaching viewers. The scandalous series takes some risky moves in breaking the mold for period dramas by incorporating a diverse cast as well as a number of steamy sex scenes, including a lengthy sex montage to the music of Taylor Swift. The sex scenes are so involved that the show even employed intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot, and she has now revealed her favorite sex scene from Bridgerton. And apparently, it's even more scandalous if you know the the story of where the on-screen couple does the deed.

On their own, the intimate scenes have a risque -- and even controversial -- nature but, apparently, that scene where newly wed couple Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton get dirty on a library ladder is even more spicy than the series lets on. According to intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot, the library where the scene is filmed is in a private member’s club, previously only reserved for men. Women actually weren’t allowed in there until 1980, much later than the time when the series is set. Here’s what Talbot has to say about the scene, in her own words:

It was super cheeky because women weren't allowed in there until 1980 and we're busting in and the first thing we're doing is a scene of oral pleasure.

As swoon-worthy as the scene is, it’s somehow even more breathtaking knowing that Rege-Jean Page’s Simon is going down on Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne in a somewhat forbidden location. And when you add in the way he wipes his mouth after he’s done, it's that much more ironic. The show’s graphic nature, which it pulls off without actually showing too much, somehow adds to the scandalous aspect the series revels in, and it sounds like adding an intimacy coordinator into the mix is just what was needed to add that extra spice. Coordinators are becoming more commonplace and, hopefully, this trend continues.

It sounds like this kind of forbidden love scene is right up Lizzy Talbot’s alley because, in the same interview with Insider, she applauds Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes' vision for the clever filming location. In the intimacy expert’s own words:

I was like, I see you Shonda, I see how this is going to go for the next nine months. So that was really fun.

I’m sure that being an intimacy coordinator is pretty much the best job ever on a normal day, but working on a series like Bridgerton -- which takes a classic idea and brings so many new thoughts and angles to light -- must be beyond enjoyable. As jealous as I am of the ladies of Bridgerton being matched with some seriously handsome dudes, Lizzy Talbot’s real life is something to be admired as well.

Fans of Bridgerton may have already binge watched the first season more than once, as it’s pretty much the perfect escapism series, but it appears there will be more Bridgerton to look forward to in the future. Although we may have to wait a little while to dive back in, a second season has already been confirmed. It’ll be a challenge to top the first season’s sex scenes, so the intimacy coordinator sure will have their work cut out for her. If the challenge is met though, fans won’t know what to do with themselves!
