Good Girls Is Teasing A 'Juicy Love Triangle' For Season 4 And I'm So In
After a sadly truncated Season 3, Good Girls is finally headed back our way for another season on NBC. Fans of the suburban crime dramedy will know that, while the trio of increasingly illegally-minded ladies at the center, Beth (Christina Hendricks), Ruby (Retta), and Annie (Mae Whitman), are getting themselves in deeper and deeper when it comes to the criminal underworld, their personal lives are always major plot points. This, of course, includes romance, and now the showrunner and executive producer are teasing us with "a nice, juicy love triangle" for Season 4.
As with pretty much every show that was airing early last year, Good Girls found itself in a bind. While Season 3 was set to air 16 episodes, things were cut short, and fans only got to watch through Episode 11 of the wild crime show. Luckily, this means that the story will really hit the ground running in Season 4, with showrunner Jenna Bans and executive producer Bill Krebs promising fans something we've been wanting more of since the show began. As they told Entertainment Weekly, in part:
Well, I think if you've been watching Good Girls for three seasons now, you already knew that Beth (especially), her best buddy Ruby, and her little sister Annie were never going to be able to fully get away from their crime boss Rio. But, the much bigger news is that we will, finally, get to see even more of Rio, whom I know some fans are very hot in the pants for, despite his tendency to keep Beth from fulfilling her own criminal mastermind tendencies and, you know, his killing ways.
To be quite blunt, I am 100% in when it comes to any love triangle between these two! While I am not one to get amped up over Rio and Beth because of his killing ways, it does appear to be true that as we see even more of his dangerous side, Beth's feelings for the sexy bad guy seem to grow. And, truly, I just want Beth to be happy, OK?
That sexual tension has already boiled over once (Hello, sexytimes in a bar bathroom while Beth's clueless husband waits for her at their table!), but now we're going to have a new wrinkle in their twisted relationship which (maybe) doesn't include Rio threatening her and Beth trying to kill him. Joy!
It sounds like there's going to be some actual growth in the relationship between Beth and Rio, which will lead to said love triangle. All we have to wonder at now is just who this third party is. Rio does have a baby-mama, and Beth has her dud of a husband, but neither of those parties feel like a real factor, at least not right now. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see either how this changes, or what new person comes into the picture for one of them.
Good Girls begins Season 4 on NBC, this Sunday at 10 p.m. EST. For more to watch, check out our guide to winter / spring 2021 TV!
