Hulu’s TV Highlights For April 2021
You've probably been waiting to see The Handmaid's Tale Season 4 for quite some time, and who hasn't? Almost two years have passed since Season 3 rocked the minds of its fans, and this grand return couldn't have come any sooner for the award-winning Elisabeth Moss-fronted series. Though that's not the only original from the Hulu/Disney family fans have to look forward to, as Freeform is providing some awesome shows to the library as well. Returning for its second season is the family dramedy Everything's Gonna Be Okay, which will undoubtedly see Nicholas, Matilda, and Genevieve still feeling out the boundaries of their eclectic, but loving family.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for a deadly new mystery to add to your watch list, then the Jessica Biel-produced Cruel Summer is going to be your ticket to thrills. Set in the '90s, three summers will see a community rocked by the disappearance of a young girl, and the story will be told through various viewpoints. But we all know what the beginning of April means for TV, and it all comes down to five words: Law & Order: Organized Crime. Elliot Stabler is back on the New York beat, and the huge crossover event with Law & Order: SVU that kicks everything off will help bring April in with a triumphant "dun dun."
Hulu’s Movie Highlights For April 2021
If you happened to miss the Michael Bay-produced pandemic thriller Songbird, you're in luck. The KJ Apa and Sofia Carson-starring film will be available for streaming not too long after its recent release onto home video, so your options are about to increase. Though if you're in the mood for hidden gems from 2020, then writer/director Brian Duffield's Spontaneous will be the movie for you. A bittersweet comedy based on YA novel of the same name by author Aaron Starmer, be prepared to laugh and cry through this tumultuous high school experience.
Last, but not least, it looks like Hulu is taking advantage of the legacy library of titles from the 20th Century Fox / Fox Searchlight vaults. Both 28 Days Later and The Abyss are coming online, which means we might be seeing Hulu finally building up a collection for where those more intense titles from both studios can find a home. So if you're wondering where movies like, say, Alita: Battle Angel might hang their hat when their current television agreements expire, look no further.
Hulu has an Easter basket full of surprises waiting for its subscribers throughout the month of April. One has to wonder if the rabbit they use to deliver such goodies is green, but what you should also wonder is whether the usual terms and conditions will move the schedule you've just seen in either direction of delay or advancement. So be sure to check the schedule, just in case you're looking for something special to add to your watchlist.
