The Masked Singer: Why One Clue May Have Blown Seashell's Secret Identity

When it comes to crafting clues for competitors, The Masked Singer has a lot going against it. While the judges aren't allowed their phones during the competition, viewers obviously are, and when a clue is a little too revealing, it can blow the identity of a contestant much sooner than the show probably would've liked. That certainly happened in Season 5, in which one key clue may have blown the lid off the mystery of The Seashell's identity.
The Seashell's voice didn't betray her in The Masked Singer's latest episode, which is more than can be said for The Raccoon (who we correctly pegged weeks ago as Danny Trejo). No, it was the second clue package for the competitor that dropped one key clue that may have completely revealed to anyone willing to look that this competitor is none other than Tamera Mowry-Housley.
While the Fox series didn't do anything as obvious as a twin tease, The Masked Singer revealed a key clue about her significant other that, I think, removed all speculation that the actress is The Seashell. A scene from the latest clue package featured The Seashell's talk about her significant other, as large baseballs bounced in the background. For those that don't know, Tamera Mowry-Housley is married to Adam Housley, a former professional baseball player.
Admittedly, Adam Housley's baseball career wasn't Hall of Fame-worthy, and he may be better known for his work in journalism or other fields. With that said, there is a relatively small number of people in the world who've officially played Major League Baseball, which drastically reduced the number of available options. I should say there was never a clue that specified what type of baseball, but if it's worth noting, then I'd assume The Masked Singer is talking about the big leagues.
And while that alone may not have sealed the deal, the rest of the puzzle pieces slid into place for me after that key clue. For example, the German food in the first clue package referenced her birthplace of Germany, and the broom is seemingly a nod to her movie Twitches. Finally, once I had Tamera Mowry-Housley as a potential option in my mind, it's pretty easy to hear in her singing voice. It may have been a bigger mystery without that baseball clue, and I still could be wrong, but I think the case is closed on this contestant.
The Masked Singer airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. CinemaBlend has a lot more guesses for competitors coming this season, so be sure to stick with us for more on that, because we've got a knack for revealing competitors in some rather unique ways.
