Robin Roberts Literally Peed Her Pants During An Interview, Now She's 'Relieved' To Share The Story
When it comes to headline-grabbing interviews, Robin Roberts is at the top of her game. Roberts knows how to mix the hard and soft questions without being either too fluffy or too hardnosed. But the Good Morning America anchor wasn’t always the top-notch interviewer she is now. The anchor has opened up about a time she peed herself during an interview, and she's "relieved" that she shared the story.
Robin Roberts spoke on the embarrassing moment while being interviewed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. As one of television news’s top interviewers, Roberts has talked with everyone from Vice President Kamala Harris to basketball legend Michael Jordan. But her first big interview as a college student left her all wet. DeGeneres brought up the subject, leading Roberts to begrudgingly tell the daytime host:
Ellen DeGeneres threw in a slight joke by asking if Robin Roberts spilled water on herself. Roberts hilariously agreed with the less embarrassing version of the story, before adding more of what really happened:
Ellen DeGeneres tried asking a follow-up question, which Robin Roberts quickly shut down. DeGeneres kept joking about the subject before the two moved on. See more of Roberts' interview with Ellen DeGeneres below:
It was nice to hear someone as high-profile as Robin Roberts admit to such an embarrassing story. Everybody has that one moment they’d rather forget. The GMA anchor’s story showed just how one moment doesn’t define you, as evident by her decades-long broadcasting career.
Ellen DeGeneres’ teasing of Robin Roberts showed just how close the women are despite it being Roberts’ first time telling the story. But Roberts did seem a little miffed in the beginning at DeGeneres for bringing up the incident. I mean, if looks could kill.
Robin Roberts’ embarrassing story was a nice light moment for her and Ellen DeGeneres as the latter’s ratings continue to fall. Hearing Roberts' story humanized her even more after facing some rough years, including being isolated early on during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, her story will push future journalists to get over the humiliating moments as they pursue their careers.
