Boy Meets World Vet (And Real-Life Porn Star) Maitland Ward Will Play A Porn Star On TV
Maitland Ward is probably best known by one faction of her viewers for the major role she had on TGIF’s Boy Meets World. Of course, another faction may know her from her work in porn, and now it looks as Ward will be using both industry skill sets for her latest TV project. Yes, actress-turned-porn-star Maitland Ward has landed a new TV series in which she will play a porn star.
The new show is called The Big Time and Maitland Ward will serve as both an executive producer and an actress on the project. In The Big Time, she’ll play an adult actress working for a studio in financial duress, with the announcement noting the studio will be “on the brink of collapse” when the show kicks off. Enter Young Rock star Brett Azar, who will play a character brought in to help save the fictional porn studio on the show.
The project is being described as "lighthearted" and a "comedy." Currently, it's unclear where The Big Time will be housed on TV or streaming, but Maitland Ward says she is excited to be involved to bring awareness of sex positivity to the mainstream. She noted in a release:
Maitland Ward’s biggest action role has definitely been her gig in Boy Meets World, which was a cultural phenomenon and is still popular 20 years later thanks to the advent of streaming and the revitalization of its popular characters with Girl Meets World. She later took gigs in White Chicks and an episode of Rules of Engagement before shifting to work in the adult entertainment industry.
Her most recent claim to fame was jokingly pitching a porn parody of the now-infamous Peloton ad that was heavily spoofed and highlighted online. While this was not really meant to be a serious idea, it wouldn’t be the first time a porn parody about another property found its way online, as the internet is peppered with TV parodies based around shows like Parks and Recreation and movies like Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Big Time is expected to get off of the ground in just a few months and in an Instagram post Maitland Ward also confirmed the series will be filmed in New York City. We'll have to wait and see where the new project lands, but for now if any new casting comes out way, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
