When the Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier dropped its sky-soaring premiere on Disney+ in March, the two titular characters started off with a little bit of a strangled relationship. The tension shared between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes definitely doesn’t bleed over to their real-life actor counterparts, though, and Sebastian Stan has an idea for a brand new project that would pair him back up with on-screen partner Anthony Mackie, and it sounds as perfect as anything coming next in the MCU.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-stars appeared in remote, socially distanced form during a laugh-filled interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where Anthony Mackie jokingly dunked on Sebastian Stan for never wanting to hang out as friends outside of work. As a response, the "hermit" Stan said he wanted to get Anthony Mackie involved with a new idea for a show where, instead of taking down bad guys, the two friends would take down tasty meals. I mean look, I’m gonna start going around. I want to pitch Anthony and I doing what Stanley Tucci is doing on CNN right now through Italy. I feel like he and I should go through Europe visiting restaurants and giving back feedback. I feel like that could be something we could do.
Solely based on the banter shared by Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie’s heroic characters on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I’d 100% watch the two of them galavanting across Europe reviewing food and bickering like a married couple. So that interest only grows knowing just how hilarious the actors are behind the scenes, with Mackie a constant burst of energy in the face of Stan's more subdued persona. Fans can assume there wouldn't be any high-tech costumes or gadgets, though perhaps they'd visit kitchens where such technology is utilized.
Of course, Sebastian Stan may have just been joking around when saying he really wants to pitch the idea, but it doesn’t seem like it! It’s not like food and travel shows aren’t already a pretty hot thing. I mean, who doesn’t want to travel the world eating great food? And if you don’t have the means to do so, living vicariously through two Marvel stars is probably the next best thing.
It may just be that Sebastian Stan is getting nostalgic for some bonding time with his long-time co-star. The two may have a complex relationship on screen, but Stan and Anthony Mackie have been working together on Marvel films since Captain America: The Winter Soldier in a lot of different capacities, and The Falcon and Winter Soldier is the first time they’ve gotten a ton of screen time together. It makes sense that they’ve gotten close over the years and want to continue working together in a higher capacity.
Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie may be finished working so closely together for now, as filming for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has completed, but fans are still in store for more of the pair on screen.
