One Thing The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons And Mayim Bialik Have In Common That Made Working Together Great
One of the most beloved fictional couples in the modern TV area would definitely be Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory. The two geniuses were absolutely perfect together and awkwardly melted millions of hearts every week. Mayim Bialik, who portrayed the female physicist on the CBS sitcom, shared her thoughts about why she's such a good match to work with on-screen partner Jim Parsons, whom she also teamed up with behind the scenes for her newest comedy, Fox's Call Me Kat.
Chemistry is key when it comes to a long relationship, whether it’s a real-life partnership or one for TV or movies, and it's a big part of why some projects go on for years, and why some die on the vine. The bond the actors have is the key, and if what you see on TV looks heartwarmingly real, then it probably is, with Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons' work on The Big Bang Theory a well-documented example. Bialik told Us Weekly that she and Parsons have something specific in common that helped their working relationship become such a success both on- and off-screen. In her words:
The Big Bang Theory ran on CBS from 2007 to 2019 for 12 seasons and 279 total episodes, with Mayim Bialik coming onto the series as a guest in Season 3 before becoming part of the main cast in Season 4. Working with the same people for nearly a decade obviously relies on building strong relationships, so it can be extremely emotional a job ends and everyone goes in (mostly) different directions. Thankfully for Bialik and Jim Parsons, neither actor is particularly keen on drawing out the psychological impact of such life changes. They apparently prefer to mute the drama and take things in stride.
That said, it's not like Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons are stone-faced monsters incapable of having any feels. Bialik did admit that while filming the final scene, having all eyes on Sheldon and Amy was not only emotional for the actors portraying them, but for everyone else on the set as well. In her words:
After Mayim Bialik joined The Big Bang Theory, fans jumped on board the Amy and Sheldon bandwagon, despite their romantic stops and starts early on. The pair eventually got married, with Mark Hamill serving as the officiant, and they also won a Noble Peace Prize together in the series finale. The chemistry between Bialik and Jim Parsons radiated both on-screen and off, which is why they worked so well together on the series, and will hopefully lead to them working again together in the future. Just don't expect them to get all weepy about it.
Relive Sheldon and Amy’s relationship on The Big Bang Theory, streaming all twelve seasons on HBO Max.
