Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were reportedly on the outs for months before the announcement that the reality star had filed for divorce came down the pipeline in February. Speculation ran rampant that their issues could have stemmed from West’s erratic behavior of late, his social media posts, or potentially even the filming of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But it looks like West might be still holding out hope for reconciliation by wearing his wedding ring.
The infamous rapper has been rather incognito of late, with his social media all but defunct after his unsuccessful bid for President of the United States last year. But Kanye West hasn’t disappeared entirely. Yesterday, DJ Khaled posted a pic of Kanye West at his house, which is reportedly in Miami Beach, and his wedding ring is clearly visible on his left hand. The wedding ring is one of only a few clues that the celebrity couple have given the public since confirmation of their divorce. Kim Kardashian has definitely not been wearing her own ring, but she did post pics of herself in some Yeezy slides not too long ago. However, it was unclear if she was doing so as a form of subtle support for West or the mustard Yeezys simply matched her all-mustard get-up for the Gram.
Regardless, the ring snap indicates something different than what has been reported about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s supposed strained relationship. Over a week ago, a source conveyed to Page Six that West was “super annoyed” that the Kardashian-Jenner “huge spin machine” makes it appear as though West hadn’t wanted out of their marriage “for a year” before the divorce. But if that’s the case, it is puzzling why West still chooses to wear his wedding ring (unless that image wasn't as recent as DJ Khaled was making it seem, of course).
The Kardashian-Jenner family has been mostly mute about the divorce, save for Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner, who both seemed to wish for the best out of the unfortunate circumstances. Prior to the divorce announcement, Kim Kardashian was reportedly without Kanye West on Valentine’s Day, and post-divorce, the rapper was supposedly missing from the Easter holiday with the family as well. Co-parenting of their four young children has also allegedly been difficult, with the two reportedly communicating through their teams and not personally.
Some reports have indicated that filming for Keeping Up with the Kardashians may have put a strain on the marriage. On a recent episode of the reality show, Kim Kardashian was shown stressing about Kanye West’s social media and desperately attempting to get ahold of him in Wyoming. Mostly, though, she refused to film talking about him with her friends and family on-camera. It remains to be seen if West will be brought up again in this final season.
What's shown on TV of the relationship has made things seem tenuous between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Of course, now West wearing his wedding ring just raises a lot more questions about the state of their union.
