A few days ago, the ever-elusive Kanye West was spotted wearing his wedding ring from soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Kardashian. He stopped by DJ Khaled’s house for a music listening sesh, and the “All I Do Is Win” performer posted the evidence of the surprise encounter on Instagram, prompting many to speculate that West was still holding out for reconciliation with his wife of seven years. DJ Khaled is now clearing up any confusion on that front.
DJ Khaled’s initial post showed Kanye West with his arms raised in apparent appreciation for whatever music he was hearing, and his wedding ring was clearly visible. It appears, though, that the post – which implied that West had just recently stopped by and the picture was recent as well – was a little misleading. In an interview with ET Online for his new album out, DJ Khaled shared more context for the snapshot, saying:
First of all, God bless him and his family, remember this was a while ago, and when I say a while ago, like, when I was first starting to create my album. And I was just playing him song ideas I had so this was long, not too long ago, this was like way before, you know, all that and I want to send my love to him and his family and his kids, you know what I mean? God bless him and his whole family, you know?
So DJ Khaled’s photo of Kanye West predates the divorce announcement in February. That should clear up any further speculation that West is still holding out for Kim Kardashian. The caption slip-up coupled with a seeming radio silence on the divorce has made many wonder about the strength of their issues that led to separation.
For the most part, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star continues to roll out her own posts on social media. There’s vacation pics, thirst traps, and promotions for her SKIMS brand, but none with Kanye West. She did show off a pair of Yeezy slides in one photo, which led to a similar vein of speculation as the DJ Khaled pic that maybe something more was going on behind the scenes.
But DJ Khaled cleared up more than just the wedding ring snafu. He also gave more background for how and why Kanye West, who is like a unicorn to spot out and about, came to be at his place. He described how one of his team members alerted him that West was in his backyard, eating scrambled eggs with ketchup and vegan bacon. Now that might have been an interesting (and recent) photo to post a few days ago.
The DJ personality has a new album, “Khaled, Khaled,” out now. Apparently, Kanye West’s visit was simply for the two to share what they’re both working on. DJ Khaled said:
And there was just a vibe, you know what I'm saying? It was just a vibe and, like, you know, I was grateful to have a great conversation with him but at the same time hear some of his music, and he heard some of my music.
Fans have been anticipating the release of Kanye West’s tenth studio album for over a year now. Before his social media accounts went cold, West was consistently teasing the new music for it, first titled Donda but supposedly changed to God’s Country. Everyone from Pusha T to DaBaby to 2 Chainz has been hinted to be featured on the album.
Kanye West might not be wearing his wedding ring anymore or otherwise attempting to reconcile with Kim Kardashian. All we can hope is that at least the rumors of his new album are true.
