WWE Raw Fans Worried For Humberto Carrillo After Potential Injury In Match With Sheamus
Warning! The following contains spoilers for the Monday Night Raw episode that aired Monday, May 10. Read at your own risk!
WWE fans are worried after the final Monday Night Raw before WrestleMania Backlash resulted in what could be a serious injury for one of its Superstars. Humberto Carrillo once again took on Sheamus in the open challenge for the United States Championship, but the match ended in an unexpected way that looked like an actual injury may have occurred to Carrillo during the match.
The moment happened when Humberto Carrillo attempted a Sunset Flip on Sheamus that would take the men from the ring apron to the floor of the arena. Something wonky happened in the execution of the move, and the end result was Sheamus' full weight came down on Carrillo's pelvic and leg area. Check out a video of the moment, and notice Carrillo's motioning to someone off-camera shortly after.
It's possible both men sustained an injury in the move, though ultimately, Sheamus was able to work up to his feet and be declared winner of the match. Cameras quickly panned away from the match, and commentators moved on from the moment, but fans wondered if Carrillo was ok or not.
Official details about the incident weren't readily available, though it's worth mentioning that Humberto Carrillo gripped the area of his upper-left inner thigh when he moved, so it's possible that an injury could have occurred in that area, but there's no saying at the time of writing. There's no shortage of things that could result in time lost for the wrestler just as he began to get some meaningful time on television once again if he is injured.
Humberto Carrillo had only just returned to the Monday Night Raw roster, and with his recent matches with United States Champion Sheamus, it seemed the wrestler had finally gotten his chance to make a real splash on the roster. Now there's some worry that any plans the WWE may have had to push Humberto further up the company ladder may have halted if this is a serious injury that would sideline the wrestler.
WWE did not give an immediate update on Humberto Carrillo's status following the match, and it may not be immediately clear what the extent of his injuries (if he has any) is. It's also possible that any serious injury may result in a match being scratched from the list for WrestleMania Backlash set for this Sunday. While Sheamus and Carrillo weren't confirmed to compete at the pay-per-view, their matches over the past couple of weeks definitely had the stereotypical build of a match being added ahead of the big night. We can only wait and see if the WWE will hold Sheamus out of the pay-per-view or pull in another opponent ahead of the big night.
