Good Thing Law And Order: SVU's Season Is Wrapped, Because Mariska Hargitay Revealed Some Serious Leg Injuries
Mariska Hargitay has been known to engage in some actiony scenes during her long tenure on Law & Order: SVU. But, it may be best that Olivia Benson is more often seen speaking supportive words to victims and their families, or interviewing suspects. And, it's really for the best that SVU has already wrapped production for Season 22, because Hargitay just revealed some pretty serious leg injuries to her fans.
It's never fun being hurt, but Mariska Hargitay has the misfortune of being hurt right near the start of her hiatus break, which has to suck on a completely different level. As the actress revealed on Instagram, she now has some healing to do over the summer, which will likely take a while. Prepare yourselves before you take a look at her post, below:
OOOOhWEEEEE! Ouch! I have been very lucky to have never broken any bones (knock on wood), and I cannot imagine what it must be like to injure all of ones legs at once. If you're anything like me, just seeing Mariska Hargitay in these leg / knee braces is enough to give you some anxious heart palpitations. How is she even standing? Well, never mind. We know how she's standing; she's Mariska Hargitay. I doubt that there's much that can truly keep her down for long.
Having said that, though, obviously Hargitay will have to take it easy for a few weeks. As noted in her caption, she broke one knee, as well as receiving a hairline fracture in one ankle and a torn ligament. Who knows how long she'd been walking around hurt like this, hoping that it wasn't serious. Luckily, she (somehow) won't actually need surgery to correct any of her injuries. I do wonder how she did this, as Hargitay specified it's not related to her work on Law & Order: SVU at all. But, I once slipped and fell down an entire flight of stairs, but managed not to break anything, so I guess I have no room to talk.
Hargitay is frequently a positive beacon of light, and even in what is sure to be a less than pleasant time for her, she's still spreading helpful advice (#ListenToYourBody, #TrustTheExperts), and joking around and poking a bit of fun at herself (#BustingPerpsWithBustedKnees, #BraceYourself, #NotTheBeesKnees), while still fully owning her power (#TheQueenBeesKnees). I would hope that we can all take a cue from Mariska Hargitay and be able to have such a good attitude even when we get knocked down for a time.
Good luck on your recovery, Mariska Hargitay! We're all pulling for you and hope to see you fully healed the next time you wear that awesome long sweater!
