Porsha Williams certainly knows how to surprise folks. Fans have witnessed her blossom as both a mother and social justice activist in recent years both on and off episodes of Real Housewives of Atlanta. But the reality show seemed to miss the part where Williams seemingly fell in love with the husband of one of her co-stars, but what made the news even more controversial is that the two are also already engaged to be married. Williams doesn’t appear too worried about the hoopla, though, in the latest pics she shared of her with her fiancé.
In the new pics, Porsha Williams is side-by-side with her husband-to-be, Simon Guobadia. The couple appears to be on a night out, without any cares of the growing controversy surrounding their engagement. Williams even captioned the post with, “Ima stick beside him.” See the pics of the couple here:
Spectators started filling up Porsha Williams’ comment section, with many seeming to be piling on the criticisms she received when she first announced her engagement. A lot of commenters are claiming that Williams can’t possibly know Simon Guobadia well enough to marry him after supposedly only a single month of dating. Others are questioning Williams’ motives in general, saying the relationship must be “fake” and that she is only with him for his money. Guobadia, an oil tycoon and film producer, is reportedly worth $40 million.
Notably, Porsha Williams still has public support of some of her friends. Tamar Braxton hilariously commented on Williams’ pics by saying, “Your caption is straight foolishness…love it.” Meanwhile, Real Housewives of Atlanta’s friend of the show and Williams’ bestie Shamea Morton commented, “Up and mutha lovin stuck.”
In the wake of the engagement announcement, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star attempted to clear up any misconceptions about her controversial relationship. She said that her and Falynn Guobadia are not even friends, despite what was shown on the show. Moreover, Williams claimed that her fiancé filed for divorce from Falynn in January and that it is already “settled.” She also said in the post:
Our relationship began a month ago—yes we are crazy in love. I know it’s fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night. Tuning out all negative energy and only focused on positive wishes. He makes me so happy and to me, that is what matters most.
So at least in Porsha Williams’ mind, there is no controversy concerning her engagement. If what she’s saying is true, then it is just unfortunate timing or bad “optics,” as she says. Either way, don't expect her to stay holed up inside her house up until the wedding.
Real Housewives of Atlanta just closed out its thirteenth season, so we won’t see Porsha Williams with her new fiancé on-screen quite yet. Perhaps we might catch some glimpse on Williams’ new limited series to start filming soon or on next season of Atlanta – if she decides to return.
