Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff Shares Sweet Throwback To Her 'First And Best' TV Husband Anders
Katee Sackhoff has had a big year, with Another Life renewed by Netflix for a new season and the actress reprising her role (in live action this time) as Bo-Katan on Disney+’s The Mandalorian. But she was a sci-fi star long before then, appearing in Ron Moore’s Battlestar Galactica reboot and sometimes she likes to remind her fans of where she started with a throwback post.
This week, Katee Sackhoff shared a look back at her time filming BSG in the early aughts, sharing a shot focusing on her character Starbuck and co-star Michael Trucco’s Anders’ now-infamous matching tattoos. She also noted as part of her sweet post (a post that would have been way to sweet for Starbuck herself honestly) that “first TV husband is usually the best TV husband." So say we all, amiright?
Really though, Sackhoff does seem to have a little sympathy for some of her other co-stars in her comment, noting she’s had other good TV husbands over the years, but it particularly easy to see why BSG still has a special place in her heart. In fact, it was on Battlestar Galactica that her career really kicked off. (She's spoken previously about really having to fight for the role of Starbuck.) After BSG ended, Katee Sackhoff has had a series of notable roles, first hopping to 24 and then as a lead on the fan-favorite Longmire. She then got back to her science fiction roots with the aforementioned Another Life, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian.
As for her OG TV husband Michael Trucco, the actor also responded to the throwback post, noting he had a great time filming the series so many years ago. Along with sharing a heart emoji, the actor shared on Instagram:
Meanwhile, Starbuck and Battlestar Galactica as a whole has lived on in the popular consciousness. In fact, the Cylons are expected to be making a comeback with a big reboot of Battlestar Galactica that is expected to head to Peacock, the NBC Universal streaming service. When last we heard, the BSG reboot had suffered a bit of a setback after its creative face Michael Lesslie exited the new streaming revival. However, even though it doesn't seem to be coming RFN, we should hopefully be hearing more about the in development series sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, Katee Sackhoff will be back on our TV's soon. Her show Another Life wrapped filming on Season 2 at the tail end of last year and should be heading to Netflix's schedule sometime this year. So, a lot of good stuff is coming for both Battlestar Galactica and Katee Sackhoff fans. While we wait, we've compiled some questions about the BSG reboot in the works.
