After David Spade Is Tapped To Host Bachelor In Paradise, The Internet Has Some Great Reactions
David Spade has been known for many things during his time as a famous funny person. He's been a regular cast member on SNL, made some of the most beloved big screen comedies in recent memory, helped lead some popular sitcoms to long tenures, and hosted his own comedian-focused late night show. But, I think it would be fair to say that none of us, not even Spade's most die hard fans, could have predicted that the well-known comedian / actor would head to Bachelor Nation in 2021, as one of the new hosts for Bachelor in Paradise. And, as expected, the internet has had some great reactions to the news.
Those of us in Bachelor Nation had already expected Season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise to be different than usual, as long-time host of all things Bachelor, Chris Harrison, has been off-screen since he angered many with very racially insensitive comments as Season 25 of The Bachelor was airing earlier this year. Former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will be taking over on The Bachelorette, which begins airing next week, but news on who would host BIP had been left up in the air for several months.
But, with word finally coming down that David Spade will step into the host role for at least a bit, fans on Twitter have been sharing their thoughts, starting with a lot of people who are just happy for a replacement strategy to be in place:
While there are still a lot of viewers who say that they're out of Bachelor Nation as long as Chris Harrison (who is currently embroiled in legal action over his apparent ousting) isn't around, there are also many others who would much rather be done with the host for good, and are completely cool with pretty much anyone being in the role of franchise host for the foreseeable future. Of course, David Spade's fans who follow the star on social media will probably know that he is an ardent watcher of the franchise, so this pick isn't completely out of left field.
And, some people think Spade should bring at least one of his best-known roles onto the beach when he steps out for his BIP hosting duties:
For all of Spade's freewheelin' Instagram dissections of The Bachelor and talk show rants about what's going on in any particular season, I have to admit that I believe we'd all be even more entertained if he did, in fact, show up on Bachelor in Paradise while showing The Emperor's New Groove some love. Can you imagine Spade in that outfit making fun of Blake Horstmann over his numerous attempts to hookup and still leaving the beach without a lady love on his arm? I think we'd all be here for that.
You can bet, though, that there any many fans who are just ready to have two of their favorite things combined. Bachelor fan David Spade mixed with having him actually around for what tends to be the nuttiest of all the Bachelor shows, seems like a winning duo, and it's already inspired a lot of viewer excitement:

As mentioned earlier, however, David Spade will, apparently, not be the only host for Season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, with other comedians also stepping in, and some are just ready for all the madness to begin in full:
OMG. Same, Bachelor Babe. Same! Let's hope they get more comedians who are already fans of the franchise who will know the many participants set to show up on the beach this time around.
Bachelor in Paradise Season 7 premieres on ABC on August 16 at 8 p.m. EST. For more to watch right now, check out our guide to 2021 summer TV premieres!
