Titans' Superboy Star Reveals How He's Been Getting Buffed Up For Season 3
The third season of the DC Universe-turned-HBO Max series Titans is on the way this year, and while fans still have a couple of more months before it makes its HBO Max debut, one star is preparing for the new season. Joshua Orpin, who portrays Connor Kent/Superboy, is buffing up.
Playing a genetic clone of Superman and Lex Luthor means that Joshua Orpin has to stay in pretty good shape. The actor posted a “superbod progress photo dump” to Instagram, giving fans a little tease of what to look forward to in Season 3, as well as what his life has been like while shooting for nine months in the middle of a pandemic.
Season 3 of Titans has been a long time coming, considering Season 2 released its finale in November 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic really delayed the upcoming season, as according to Joshua Orpin’s post, the cast and crew went through two lockdowns. Filming for Season 3 began last October and will end this month. The new season is expected to premiere in August, nearly two years after Season 2 had its finale.
Titans is not shying away from comic book elements for its move to HBO Max. With the series casting the third Robin, Tim Drake, fan-favorite character Barbara Gordon and Jason Todd pivoting from Robin to Red Hood, as well as plenty more surprises, fans are in for quite a treat when Season 3 finally premieres this August on HBO Max.
Last year, Titans executive producer Greg Walker teased a big storyline for Anna Diop’s Kory Anders and Starfire for next season, including the arrival of her sister/nemesis Blackfire as well as “a few other surprises in store for hardcore Starfire fans this season.” The series was renewed for a third season shortly after the Season 2 finale, meaning that it will have been a while since fans saw the DC heroes, but luckily it won’t be much longer.
Titans is just one of several shows to migrate from DC Universe to HBO Max, along with Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, and Young Justice, while Stargirl is moving to The CW for its upcoming season. The move was announced in late 2020, as DC Universe transformed into DC Universe Infinite earlier this year, moving the remaining original TV shows to HBO Max, as both are owned by Warner Bros.
It will be interesting to see how, if at all, Titans is different for its third season compared to the first two. Considering Joshua Orpin’s post about getting him leaner and meaner, Superboy is coming out to fight for Season 3. The first two seasons of Titans are streaming on HBO Max, with Season 3 due to release sometime in August. There is no confirmed date.
