Why Dove Cameron’s Powerpuff Girls Pilot Has To Be Reshot
The CW’s Powerpuff Girls reboot will be reshooting the pilot after it was assumed to be too campy and nothing like the original. While some thought it was because the script for the pilot got leaked, Bubbles actress Dove Cameron gave a more in-depth explanation for why the pilot really had to be reshot.
Rebooting a classic series is never easy, especially one as iconic as the Powerpuff Girls cartoon for live-action. After pictures were leaked from the set of Dove Cameron, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Chloe Bennett and Yana Perrault wearing identical costumes that were more or less mediocre, and the less-than amusing and cringeworthy script, execs thought it was better to reshoot the first episode. Cameron tells Entertainment Tonight why the pilot had to be reshot and how different it’s going to be from the initial script:
While some people weren’t too keen on the idea of a live-action Powerpuff Girls reboot, it should be nice knowing that the show and network are working to do the original justice. Dove Cameron mentions how excited she is, given that not many actors get a second chance for a redo:
In April, the former Disney star shared her excitement about the Powerpuff reboot, noting that even though she grew up without cable, she still knew about Powerpuff Girls. If The CW does pick up the reboot after the reworked pilot has been shot and screened, Powerpuff will be just the latest reboot from the network. An adult version of the Nickelodeon kids’ game show Legends of the Hidden Temple will be premiering this fall.
