One Way Kanye West Apparently Cut Ties With Kim Kardashian And Her Family Amid Divorce
Only a few months after Kim Kardashian announced she was filing for divorce from Kanye West, the rapper has reportedly struck up a new romance. He was seen in France with her earlier this week as he celebrated his 44th birthday. But that’s not the only way West is apparently moving on with his life. Supposedly, he cut ties with Kardashian and the rest of her family in a major way.
Kanye West severed family ties the good old-fashioned way: unfollowing Kim Kardashian and all of her sisters on Twitter, according to Page Six. Given how the Kardashian-Jenners practically live and market themselves as a united, thirst-trap front through their social media, West’s unfollow move potentially signals that he is leaving the reality TV world behind. Sources have previously claimed that West wanted this kind of out even before the divorce.
However, it isn’t quite clear when Kanye West may or may not have unfollowed Kim Kardashian and her family. Because technically, he hasn’t been active on the platform since November. It could just be a similar misunderstanding as that DJ Khaled pic of West wearing his wedding ring was. At the very least, he also isn’t following Irina Shayk on Twitter, the model he is allegedly dating now.
I did the arduous work of scouring through the people the Kardashian-Jenners follow on Twitter and, yes, they all still follow Kanye West. Publicly, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars have been supportive of Kimye through the divorce. Even last week, while West was allegedly busy frolicking in France with another woman, both Kim and Khloe dedicated Instagram posts to the rapper’s birthday. Kim said she would always love him, while Khloe said he was her “brother for life.” See her throwback pic here:
Amidst the hoopla about Irina Shayk, some were quick to criticize Khloe Kardashian’s birthday message as being too supportive of her ex-brother-in-law. But Kardashian wasn’t having it. In response to one user’s message that their sister bond should outweigh her ties to West, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star said (via People):
Khloe Kardashian definitely knows the ends and outs of responding to online criticism these days. What’s more evident, though, is that the Kardashian-Jenner family are still closing ranks around Kim Kardashian and Kanye West amidst all the drama, even his Twitter unfollow spree. It makes sense – the former couple share four children together and, so far as we heard on the final episode of Keeping Up with Kardashians, Kim wants the both of them to find happiness.
So maybe Kanye West’s happiness lies with a new girlfriend and pulling further away from social media, as he has been apt to do in the past. As for Kim Kardashian, she apparently says she wants to find a new man who she can watch shows with and work out with and live in the same time zone with. Probably someone who mutually follows her back on Twitter wouldn’t be too much of an ask, either.
