Leonard Nimoy's Daughter Julie Pens Sweet Father's Day Letter To Late Star Trek Actor
In the world of Star Trek, Spock was never a father, but the actor who played him, Leonard Nimoy, certainly was. The actor juggled a busy career along with being a good father to his two children, Adam and Julie and, on Father's Day, Julie Nimoy shared a special letter with CinemaBlend to her father on this special holiday.
Along with her husband David Knight, Julie Nimoy has made it a mission in life to carry on Leonard Nimoy's later efforts to inform the world about the dangers of lung disease and prevention. Read the sweet message Nimoy penned for her father on this holiday for CinemaBlend to share, which included special thanks to some notable celebrities who've helped spread their message along the way.
Leonard Nimoy's daughter was kind enough to give fans a glimpse into the actor's private life, something which is also done in the documentary mentioned, Remembering Leonard Nimoy. The film, which is currently free to watch on Amazon Prime Video, details the life of the man behind Spock, as well as his struggles with COPD later in life.
Julie Nimoy has also championed other efforts to preserve her father's legacy, such as the Leonard Nimoy Memorial planned for the Museum of Sciene, located in the actor's hometown of Boston. It's a lot of work, surely, but all done out of love for her father and in the hopes of carrying on his legacy to help better inform others about the dangers of lung disease.
As mentioned, Julie Nimoy has had some help in those efforts. One of her biggest helpers has been Star Trek actor and friend of Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner. Fans heard rumors of a falling-out between the two later in life but, as Julie told CinemaBlend, she never heard her father speak negatively of Shatner.
As mentioned, Remembering Leonard Nimoy is available on Amazon Prime Video and is available for purchase on the official website. For more on Star Trek and Leonard Nimoy, be sure to read up on our other conversation with Julie Nimoy regarding her thoughts on Ethan Peck's portrayal of Spock.
