NCIS: New Orleans Vet CCH Pounder Has Landed First TV Role After CBS Cancellation
NCIS: New Orleans fans were shocked when it was announced, back in February, that the Season 7 finale would actually be the series finale. Now that the show has wrapped, they're probably hoping to be able to see the actors who played some of their favorite characters again soon, and all of those viewers are in luck when it comes to CCH Pounder, who played coroner Dr. Loretta Wade for the entire run of the drama. Pounder has now signed on for her first role since the cancellation of NCIS: New Orleans.
According to TVLine, CCH Pounder has signed on for The Good Fight Season 5, which recently began on Paramount+. Pounder will be playing a new character on the legal drama named Vinetta, who is a Chicago native who's very committed to her city, but has watched as the crime rates in her own neighborhood have steadily risen over the years. Vinetta is looking to bring back justice for those who've been victims, but it's not clear right now how she'll be introduced to or interact with the legal team at the center of the series.
Pounder will be around The Good Fight for a multi-episode arc, but we don't know just how many episodes that will be yet.
Fans will know that whether CCH Pounder's Vinetta is around for two episodes or nine, she's guaranteed to bring the audience something enjoyable to watch. If you're a fan of The Good Fight who did not happen to catch Pounder as a member of the NCIS: New Orleans cast, you can rest assured that she made Dr. Wade a very important and memorable part of the team, as she has with characters throughout her 42 year career on our screens. Pounder has also given fans impressive characters through her work on shows like The Shield, ER, and Sons of Anarchy, as well as movies such as the Avatar films (she's returning for the sequels), and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
On a show that has already seen some rather wacky characters, and promises to deliver even more of that, in addition to some strange scenarios, CCH Pounder's role on The Good Fight will be interesting to see. As with most shows, it had to wrap Season 4 several episodes earlier than planned last year, leading to a much retooled Season 5 premiere which had to clear up a lot of loose plot threads, including the departures of former regulars Delroy Lindo and Cush Jumbo.
The debut also caught fans up on how the characters fared during the past year, with all of the not-so-great events that transpired, and now the show is on pace to carry on with its slightly oddball brand of legal shenanigans.
We're not sure when CCH Pounder will make her debut on The Good Fight as Vinetta, but you can watch every Thursday to see how she makes her introduction. For more to watch in the meantime, be sure to check out our guide to 2021 summer TV.
