Pauley Perrette played Abby Sciuto on NCIS from 2003 to 2018 and, although she’s no longer on the series, it seems she’s still keeping close to her former co-stars. The actress recently wished Michael Weatherly (Anthony DiNozzo) a happy birthday.
It's not uncommon for co-stars to wish each other the best on their birthdays, and Pauley Perrette's Twitter post in honor of Michael Weatherly's signifies this in tremendous fashion. You can check out her message down below:
You honestly can't help but love Pauley Perrette's message. Although her and Michael Weatherly's characters were never romantically linked, they had a friendly, platonic relationship that can make anyone jealous. DiNozzo was basically Abby’s brother, as he was protective of her. So Perrette’s tweet keeps their “family” bond still a very real thing.
In the years following their time NCIS, Pauley Perrette and Michael Weatherly have shown support for each other on multiple occasions. Weatherly showed his support for Perrette and her new CBS show Broke last year and was even willing to tape it over an episode of Friends. And shortly after that, Perrette gushed about her former co-star, saying that he’s like her brother. Both actors stayed with CBS after their stints on NCIS and, while the network cancelled Broke, Weatherly’s Bull is still going strong. Maybe she’ll guest star in the upcoming season?
Pauley Perrette left NCIS on her own time when it became clear to her through other means that then was the right time. Meanwhile, Michael Weatherly decided to leave NCIS so he could branch out professionally, considering he'd been on the series for 13 years. And although Weatherly has had some tough times on Bull (especially after facing some allegations in 2018), he still remains close to not only Perrette but some of his other NCIS co-stars as well.
Last year, Perrette and Weatherly even reunited with some of their NCIS co-stars for a good cause. They got together with Brian Dietzen, Rocky Carroll, and Sasha Alexander for Project Angel Food, which helps to deliver meals to families in need. The nonprofit had put on a telethon and, while getting involved, it looks like the alums had the time of their lives. Since NCIS isn’t going anywhere, at least for now, it’s possible that Perrette and Weatherly could reunite on screen at some point, especially since it’s been teased the latter will make an appearance again on the series.
It’s always so nice to see former co-stars get together and see that there’s been no change in their relationship. It gives fans nostalgia for what was and provides hope for what could happen. That could mean a new project in the works or simply updates on personal get-togethers between the stars. Regardless of that though, the relationship between Pauley Perrette and Michael Weatherly will likely endure and will only make it easier to see why their relationship worked so well on NCIS.
