90 Day Fiancé's Angela Deem Catches Heat From Fans After Latest Episode
Warning! The following contains spoilers for the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? episode "Man Up Or Shut Up." Read at your own risk!
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Angela Deem has been in the news a lot recently, thanks in part to her dramatic weight loss. But now that the newness of that change has started to fade, some fans have clearly shifted back to targeting her oft-criticized treatment of Nigerian husband Michael Ilesanmi. This was especially the case after the latest episode, in which the two once again battled over about his treatment of Deem following her surgery.
The latest 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After episode, which debuted on Discovery+ on Friday ahead of Sunday night's airing on TLC, kicked off Angela Deem's story via her daughter's info that Michael Ilesanmi had been unsuccessful in his attempts to reach her. Deem explained that it was ridiculous that Ilesanmi tried to use her daughter as a method of contact, but then when the couple finally did talk, Ilesanmi revealed that Deem had blocked him on all of their social media and shared apps, thus limiting his roads of communication. The moment made it seem like everything prior was set up to make Ilesanmi look bad, when really the reason he hadn't called was because Deem had blocked his methods and opportunities.
The argument wasn't particularly different or more extreme than any other fight the couple have had this season, beyond the fact that Michael Ilesanmi seemed to stand up for himself more than usual. He even went so far as to applaud Angela Deem for her "performance" when she threatened to divorce him, which enraged Deem and led her to hang up the phone. Deem was understandably upset, but fans weren't feeling much sympathy for her.
As expected, Angela Deem didn't get much support from the 90 Day Fiancé fandom for how Michael Ilesanmi treated her. Fans called out Deem for her accusations against her husband, including the allegation that he was the reason she hadn't been able to quit smoking despite orders from the doctor. Deem was told by physicians that smoking would be an extremely bad idea after her weight loss surgery, and could prove fatal in some circumstances.
And while 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? was unable to give us a constant play-by-play of those days following Angela Deem's surgery, Michael Ilesanmi seemed to be about as available as he could be for her while still being in a different time zone on another continent. Some viewers felt his anger in the episode was justified, especially considering the cosmetic surgery costs all but erased his hopes of her carrying a child to term with a donor egg.
Of course, many have watched enough 90 Day Fiancé seasons to know that fights like this between Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi aren't rare. The two have gone round and round since their very first season, and without many changes taking place in their marriage, and Ilesanmi still no closer to joining her in America, one does have to wonder what's keeping them together beyond the connection they share in the TLC series. Given the stress and anger the two put each other through, would a divorce be easier for both parties, or would actually being together in one location be the better solution? I guess we know how this viewer feels.

All things considered, one has to believe that throughout all the fighting set up for TV, Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi must truly love each other. After all, they are seemingly still together months after this episode was filmed, so this may just have been a rough patch in a landscape already full of them. Hopefully, better times are ahead for the duo, and fans will see less squabbling as their marriage continues.
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? hits Discovery+ on Friday mornings for streaming subscribers, and airs on TLC on Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET. Drama aside, fans have expressed some disappointment this season hasn't been quite as thrilling as the ones prior. For some insight as to why that may be, check out why this season has been so disappointing for me so far.
