Hallmark Just Cancelled Long-Running Series Good Witch And James Denton And Catherine Bell Have Responded
This year has already been brutal for TV fans and 2021 isn’t stopping that trend yet. Hallmark Channel announced recently that their long-running series Good Witch will be ending after seven seasons. And now, two of its stars, James Denton and Catherine Bell, are responding to the sudden and surprising cancellation.
In a statement via Deadline, James Denton, who plays Dr. Sam Radford on the fantasy dramedy, reflected on his time on the series and responded to the show’s cancellation. While this won’t be the last time fans see him on the network, he will always have a special place in his heart for Good Witch:
Meanwhile, JAG star Catherine Bell, who plays the mystical Cassie Nightingale, shared a heartfelt message to Instagram after news broke. She shared her gratitude for her Good Witch family, and her character Cassie, who has inspired her in more ways than one:
The series got renewed for a seventh season last summer, but it was unknown then whether there could be another season afterward. Hallmark’s sudden news doesn’t leave the cast and fans much time to mourn, considering there are seven seasons worth of emotions that everyone is going to be feeling. And, it looks like James Denton and Catherine Bell are already, understandably, feeling the emotions.
The series finale is set to air on Sunday, July 25 at 8 p.m. EST, as the Merriwick cousins face the force that is putting their family legacy at risk, and, of course, changes are happening for everyone else. How the journey will come to an end for Cassie, Sam and everyone will soon be found out. But, it will still be heartbreaking saying goodbye.
