Big Brother 23's Frenchie Reveals Why He Never Believed Christian And Alyssa Weren't In A Showmance
Warning! The following contains spoilers from the Big Brother live feeds! Read at your own risk!
Big Brother Season 23 got off to a chaotic start with Brandon "Frenchie" French and his Week 1 Head of Household reign, and fans had a field day criticizing the Houseguest's gameplay and supposed bad reads in the house. Particularly the fandom gave him a hard time for nominating Alyssa Lopez for her showmance with Christian Birkenberger, as many felt the attraction was clearly one-sided and mainly from Christian.
Of course, Big Brother fans are now eating crow as live feed viewers know Alyssa and Christian were caught making out in the HOH room by Xavier Prather, and the whole house is now fully aware something is going on between them. When I spoke to Frenchie the day after his eviction and asked if he truly believed Christian and Alyssa weren't a thing, given that he backed off Alyssa as a target after being seemingly convinced, this is what he had to say:
It didn't even take that long for Alyssa Lopez and Christian Birkenberger to get all comfy and cozy, as his exit and a fellow Kings member getting the HOH seemed like the green light to move forward on their "showmance." Keep in mind, Frenchie expressed this to me hours after he left the Big Brother house, which was a couple of days before the make-out incident. Say what you want about his reads. It seems like he saw right through that one when a lot of others didn't.
Based on what else we learned from Frenchie though, I wouldn't expect him to hop online to give an "I told you so" to the Big Brother fandom. The farmer revealed that he had no plans to watch Big Brother following his eviction, with the exception that he will watch and/or participate in the Season 23 finale.
Ultimately Brandon French told CinemaBlend the bonds he formed in the house made it difficult for him to watch and that he just needed some time away to properly decompress from the experience. At least he can eventually take solace that his instincts were right about Alyssa Lopez, though maybe that'll only lead him to think he should've voted her out to begin with.
Big Brother airs on CBS Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more analysis on Season 23 as well as interviews with the Houseguests as they exit the game.
