Big Brother 23 Spoilers: Who Won The HOH, And What It Means For Week 5
Warning! The following contains spoilers from the Big Brother live feeds. Read at your own risk!
Christian Birkenberger's Head of Household reign resulted in Whitney Williams leaving the house, but that's not the only notable thing that has happened. The remaining Big Brother Houseguests were informed that the team twist is officially over along with the Wildcard Competition, which means safety is only guaranteed for the Head of Household, and anyone lucky enough to win or receive the power of veto.
Obviously, losing those two safety nets made everyone want to go really hard for the Week 5 HOH, but who was the one who was able to stick it out on the wall comp and take control of the house? Here's who took the competition, and what viewers can expect to see from their upcoming week on Big Brother.
Derek Xiao Won The Week 5 Head Of Household
It was a grueling competition, but after close to an hour and a half, Xavier Prather agreed to drop so that Derek Xiao could have his first Head of Household win. Derek was understandably psyched to win the competition, especially given the fact that he was nearly evicted in Week 1. Now he's running the house, which is good news for a lot of people.
How Derek X Will Likely Run His Head Of Household
Derek Xiao will have a lot of pressure on him this week, as everyone in the house has been clamoring for a shot to be taken at the Kings. Even with teams officially over, people still view that full team as a big threat in the house and want at least one of the members gone. The question is whether or not that's what Derek X wants, and if he'll listen to his housemates.
About the only person in the house who truly has Derek X's ear is his Final 2 partner Hannah Chaddha. I would expect Hannah to be a big factor in who he targets this week, though I can't say for sure who she'd like to see leave. Prior to the eviction, it would've been Sarah Beth Steagall, but those two seemed to have squashed their beef. Of course, that could change now with Derek in power, and Hannah could direct her partner to set Sarah Beth up to leave.
As for other potential targets, I haven't seen Derek Xiao talk much game with Britini D'Angelo, nor Derek Frazier. Those two could be the pawns to guarantee that a larger target than either of them go home. One suggestion we'll undoubtedly hear from Tiffany Mitchell is to put up Christian Birkenberger and Alyssa Lopez.

Tiffany has been wanting Derek X to take out Christian to keep the blood off her hands but knows she needs someone who can beat him in comps to do it. Derek has told Hannah he'd rather keep Christian around to be a bigger target than him, so I don't see him doing that. Then again, I'm not entirely sure what Derek will do, which is what could make this week of Big Brother so exciting.
