Star Wars is currently developing a number of spinoffs to Disney+’s The Mandalorian, with Ahsoka being one of the key shows. The series will focus on the continuing adventures of Rosario Dawson’s titular Jedi, but rumors suggest the show will also feature characters from Star Wars Rebels. Sabine Wren is among the characters rumored to be popping up, and many fans are hoping her original voice actress, Tiya Sicar, will play the role in live-action. As a result, Sicar has shared a message with fans who are campaigning for her to join the show.
Fans officially threw their support to Tiya Sicar after it THR reported that Lucasfilm was looking to cast Sabine for Ahsoka. Sicar is no stranger to addressing fans and, after learning about the campaign to get her onto the show, she dropped a sweet message on Twitter:
It’s easy to understand why fans would be eager for Tiya Sicar to reprise her role as Sabine for a live-action Star Wars production. The actress flawlessly voiced the character for all four seasons of Rebels, which saw Wren evolve from a witty Mandalorian artist into a capable leader of Mandalore. Plus, Sicar also bears a resemblance to Sabine, so it’s not crazy to think she could follow in Katee Sackhoff’s footsteps by reprising her animated role.
Fans last saw Sabine Wren in the closing moments of the Rebels series finale, in which she and Ahsoka Tano set off to find the missing Ezra Bridger. If Sabine actually is going to appear on the upcoming Disney+ show, then this is likely how she’ll factor into the series. And recent reports (and a key name-drop on The Mandalorian) would suggest that we will get closure when it comes to the search for Bridger.
During her appearance on The Mandalorian Season 2, Ahsoka was seen inquiring about the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who disappeared alongside Ezra at the end of Rebels. This brief mention got fans excited and, now, reports claim Lucasfilm has cast actors to play both Thrawn and Ezra on the show. It’s been alleged that Aladdin star Mena Massoud is playing Ezra and that Lars Mikelssen will reprise his role as Thrawn. Those looking to learn more about these characters can stream Rebels on Disney+, which you can sign up for using this link.
Official updates on Ahsoka have been scarce since the show was first announced late last year, so it’s unclear as to how far into production it is at this point. With any luck, Disney+ Day, which comes in November, will give us a clearer idea of what we can expect from the Star Wars show in terms of story and casting.
