Watch Blake Shelton Take The Stage With Gwen Stefani For No Doubt's Biggest Hit
Some people make beautiful music together, and that is certainly the case for country singer Blake Shelton and pop idol Gwen Stefani. The musical duo met while coaching aspiring vocalists on The Voice, but ever since they became an item, the now-married couple have been spotted performing their own music together. The most recent example? A surprise performance of one of No Doubt’s biggest hits with none other than Shelton on guitar.
Blake Shelton recently headlined the Bash on the Bay country music festival in Put-In-Bay, Ohio, alongside fellow country star Keith Urban. Shelton was accompanied by Gwen Stefani, who’s been traveling on the road with him since the pair’s marriage in July. While the Bash on the Bay was primarily a country show, the crowd was nevertheless ecstatic when Stefani took to the stage to perform one of No Doubt’s biggest hits: “Don’t Speak.” The Voice coach posted a video clip of her performance to Instagram, which you can take a peek at below:
While it’s been a while since No Doubt dropped any music, Gwen Stefani more than looked the part of a '90s rock star in fishnets, flannel, and neon orange stiletto boots. If anything, she looks even better now - and her voice has definitely held up over the years. She was able to belt out her old hit with ease. The icing on the cake was the addition of Gwen’s new husband Blake Shelton backing her up on guitar, along with the rest of his band. While a '90s pop-rock hit and a country band might not seem like the obvious pairing, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton seamlessly blended their respective genres.
Although the pair were married in July 2021, they never got a honeymoon due to COVID-19 and multiple scheduling conflicts. This has led to Gwen Stefani jokingly calling Blake Shelton’s concert schedule a “honeymoon tour.” Shelton is embarking on his “Friends and Heroes” concert tour this September, so it’s possible that Gwen will continue to resurrect No Doubt hits for his country-western audience.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met when they were both hired as coaches on NBC’s hit singing competition show The Voice, and they’ve officially been dating since 2015. Since Adam Levine departed The Voice, taking his mock-rivalry with Blake Shelton with him, some fans have considered Shelton and Stefani's relationship to be a selling point of the show. However, Season 20 and the upcoming Season 21 won’t see Stefani as a coach, as she has stepped back to work on her own projects.
Joining Blake Shelton in the red chairs are returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, as well as first-timer Ariana Grande. The Voice returns to NBC on September 20, 2021.
