Being a huge fan of ABC Family’s original series Greek, I’m always on the lookout for new shows that the network might be working on. Apparently, one of the latest projects is a small-screen remake of the 1999 movie, 10 Things I Hate About You. The film, which was a take on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew centered on a guy who bribe’s the high school loner to take out the sister of the girl he likes. It’s also the film that introduced many of us to the then mostly unknown Heath Ledger.

ABC Family has assembled some of the cast for the pilot, all of whom already have small-screen (well, mostly small small-screen roles) to their names. According to The Hollywood Reporter, here are the five kids cast for the show and thanks to IMDB.com, some of their previous roles (Character descriptions are based on the film and could turn out to be different in the series):

Ethan Peck – playing Patrick Verona (Ledger’s part from the movie) – One of his more notable roles was playing the 10-year-old version of Kelso on That 70’s Show. If he can pass for a young Ashton Kutcher and play the role of the high school loner bad-boy, he’s sure to get the girls' attention if this series gets picked up. Add that to the fact that he’s legendary actor Gregory Peck’s grandson and what’s not to love already? Not convinced? Here’s a photo.

Lindsey Shaw – playing Kat (the grumpy older sister whom Patrick attempts court) – One of her recent roles was Claire Tolchuck in the cancelled CW series Aliens in America.

Meaghan Jette Martin – playing Bianca (the younger, more popular sister) – If you’re a fan of Disney Channel’s Camp Rock then you may remember her from her role as Tess Tyler.

Nicholas Braun – playing Cameron (the sweet guy who bribes Patrick to take out Kat so that he get Bianca permission from her overprotective dad to date him). Braun’s appeared in Without a Trace, Law and Order: SVU, Shark and Cold Case.

Kyle Kaplan – playing Michael (the geeky nice-guy who befriends Cameron) – Kaplan has appeared in Hannah Montana, Zoey 101 and The War at Home.

If this series turns out to be as great as the movie, ABC Family’s got another winner on their hands. Hopefully the pilot goes well and it goes to series.
