ABC Shows Us How To Make a Music Star
The producers of ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ are all about making dreams come true. In the new series they’re producing on ABC this summer, instead of loading up families with lots of high-end appliances and more theme-rooms than a cheap Vegas motel, they’re giving aspiring musicians the chance to be “The One”. The title of the show, you ask? ‘The One: Making of a Music Star’
Here is ABC’s description of the new show:
Based on the international sensation, the series will follow the lives of contestants as they attend a fully functioning music academy that turns aspiring singers into music stars through professional training. The show will follow all the drama in the music academy, as it offers vocal coaching and celebrity mentors who will turn potential into talent in a state-of-the-art training and recording facility. Each week contestants will perform live for the American audience, who will have to vote to keep their favorites in the competition. In addition, the contestants' coaches will also serve as judges. The winner will receive a recording contract with a major record company.
It sounds like Fame and American Idol mashed together to me except instead of Ryan Seacrest, teen pregnancies and people dancing on cafeteria tables, ‘The One’ is a bit more realistic. As realistic as reality shows get, anyway.
