It looks like ABC and Judy Greer are once again joining forces for a new comedy series. ABC has signed the star of the short-lived Miss/Guided to play the lead in the TV adaptation of Elaine Szewczyk’s novel I’m With Stupid.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, listing the following description for the multicamera comedy series:

“Based on Elaine Szewczyk's novel, Stupid centers on Manhattan-born and -bred Kas Sienkiewicz (Greer), who has a fling with a seemingly perfect park ranger while on safari in South Africa. When she returns home, she wonders whether she'll ever hear from him again, only to have him arrive unannounced at her doorstep. She quickly realizes her new roommate has limited intellectual capabilities and learns that what happens on safari should stay on safari.”

From the dork-turned-hottie, Fern Mayo in Jawbreaker, to the spastic, boob-flashing mistress in Arrested Development, and more recently, the guidance counselor desperate to escape her loserish past while working in the very high school where she attended, Judy Greer has made a pretty solid living playing hilarious but strangely lovable messes. It’s my opinion that she’s at her funniest when she’s teetering on the edge of hysteria. If she brings even an ounce of that to this new series, I’m thinking it’ll be a winner. Let’s just hope that ABC gives this one a bit more time to grow than the network did with Miss/Guided.
