ABC Turning Awkward Family Photos Into A TV Show

ABC appears to be taking a page out of CBS’ book in trying to squeeze a TV show out of a popular internet fad. The network is developing a comedy series based on the popular website AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com

According to the Hollywood Reporter Sony Pictures TV is producing the adaptation of the Awkward Family Photos book and popular photo blog that showcases weird and funny family pictures for ABC in a “script-with-penalty” deal.

Exactly what kind of show this will be isn’t clear right now but despite my enjoyment in viewing some of the most bizarre family photos I’ve ever seen on that website, I can’t see how they’ll develop a (worth watching) series out of it. We'll have to wait to see what other details emerge about this project.

Moses Port and David Guarascio (Aliens in America) are the writers of the series, while AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com creators Mike Bender and Doug Chernack are listed as executive producers.
