If you watched last Thursday’s episode of Community and were wondering what Abed was up to while everyone's drama was playing out, perhaps you weren’t paying close enough attention to the background.
I’ll admit it, I didn’t catch Abed’s story arc, as it played out entirely in the background of everyone else’s scenes this week. If you caught it, good on you! If not, a fan put together this video, which includes Abed’s rather dramatic interactions with a pregnant woman on campus.
As I’m not a fan of the clichéd “so and so helped a pregnant woman give birth to her baby in some random place like an elevator or the back of a car” story arc that pops up in too many TV shows, I absolutely love that Community managed to work it in to an episode in a refreshingly original way. It sort of reminds me of the Buffy episode titled “The Zeppo,” wherein Xander becomes the hero that no one notices because everyone else is too caught up in their own issues.
