The New Agent Carter Poster Is An Awesome Slice Of Retro Greatness

Now that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is on hiatus until March, Marvel and ABC are stepping up their promotion for the limited series Agent Carter. We’ve gotten a few trailers already, but sometimes it’s nice to just have a good image to look at. Fortunately, ABC has given us an early Christmas present by releasing this new, stylish poster for the series featuring the gorgeous Haley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter ready to go undercover and head into action.

Agent Carter poster

This poster has an amazing retro, pulp feel to it, which is fitting considering the time period the show takes place in. Although Peggy is obviously a good guy, she’s oozing a femme-fatale vibe in this image, and with that contrasting red hat and blue outfit, you can almost picture her in a 1940s noir film…if those films were in color, that is. We’ve seen from the trailers and that she’ll be kicking all sorts of ass, and while her superiors at the SSR may not have her in the field, she’s perfectly qualified to get the job done. The poster, which comes to us from Marvel, wonderfully balances Peggy’s sexy and dangerous sides. She means business!

Agent Carter will debut next month with a two-hour season premiere, but don’t think this means we’re getting an extra-long first episode. The first two episodes are being aired on the same night, so what was previously advertised as an “eight-part event” is now a "seven-part event."

The show will follow her in 1946 as she adjusts to post-war life and losing the “love of her life” while doing administrative work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve. When her old pal Howard Stark recruits her to track down some stolen weapons of his, she’ll put her spy skills to work to secure and dispose of these destructive devices before they can cause any harm. She’ll be assisted by Stark’s butler Edwin Jarvis, and her co-workers at the SSR include agents Daniel Sousa and Jack Thompson, as well as chief Roger Dooley.

Peggy’s previous appearances in the MCU include the Captain America movies, the Agent Carter One-Shot (which led to this series being created) and two Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episodes. She is also set to appear next year in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. You can catch the first two Agent Carter episodes on January 6th at 8.p.m. ET, with all the remaining episodes airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
