Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Providence Trailer And Photos Tease A Big Reveal And Patton Oswalt
Spoilers from last night's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode, "Turn, Turn, Turn" ahead!
Things took a drastic turn during last night's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and part of that involved the reveal that some seemingly trustworthy characters weren't so trustworthy. The preview for next week's episode, titled "Providence," teases the next step for Coulson and his team, and also the potential for another big reveal.
Before we get to Coulson, let's talk about Ward. Everything has changed. Hydra has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. leaving the good guys to wonder who they can trust... and who they definitely can't trust. Last night's episode left off with Ward presumably demonstrating his allegiance to Hydra by shooting Hand and the two other agents and not shooting Garrett. Yes, it's possible that Ward is deep undercover and/or that when Coulson pulled him aside earlier he told him to do that and it's all part of some big plan. Maybe the situation really is so dire that Hand needed to die so Ward could get in with Hydra. Honestly though, I hope that's not the case.
Can they just let Ward be Hydra? Because man that's a great twist for a character who's been pretty flat all season. I realize there may be more to the situation than was revealed in the episode, but that glare at the end kind of gave me chills. And it would be kind of amazing if Coulson's group had an antagonist that knew them personally. Sure, they kind of have that with Garrett, but Ward brings it closer to him.
But I realize that last night's ending might've been intentionally misleading. I just hope that's not the case. It sounds like we'll learn one way or the other, as the preview teases, "While the agent they trusted shows what side he's really on." That seems to intentionally keep it vague, and implies that things might not be as we were left to think they are, so I don't know.
For now though, it looks like actor Brett Dalton is enjoying the twist, as he Tweeted the following after last night's episode:
ABC's going to be re-airing "Turn, Turn, Turn," next week at 8:00 p.m. after which the new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is scheduled to air at 9:00 p.m. So if you find a rerun airing next week, stick around, the new episode is coming later than usual!
