Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Trailer For 'The Only Light in the Darkness' Teases Amy Acker's Appearance

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. delivered another great episode last night, filling us in a bit more on Ward's situation and sending Coulson and his team to their next destination. The preview for next Tuesday night's episode, "The Only Light in the Darkness," gives us a peek at Amy Acker's character Audrey and also indicates that Ward and Skye will be getting a bit closer... or not.

First, let's talk about Acker, who will play the mentioned cellist Coulson was seeing before he died in New York. The official description for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s "The Only Light in the Darkness" indicates that her life is in danger...

“The Only Light In The Darkness” – With their world turned upside down, Coulson races to save the life of his one true love as the mystery of “The Cellist,” which began in Marvel's The Avengers, is finally revealed on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., TUESDAY, APRIL 22 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons.Guest starring are Bill Paxton as Agent John Garrett, Patrick Brennan as Marcus Daniels, Amy Acker as Audrey, B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, and Patton Oswalt as Agent Koenig.

We learned late last month that Amy Acker would be playing the love of Coulson's life, and even before we knew about Hydra, we mentioned the possibility of her being a bad guy. Acker's proven to be able to play evil as well as she can play good, so that possibility seemed worth noting. Now knowing that Hydra's infiltrated everywhere, it seems even more possible that she was planted in Coulson's life a long time ago to spy on him. It's also possible that she's a good spy -- or a S.H.I.E.L.D. one, anyway. Or she's just a cellist. We'll hopefully find out on Tuesday.

As for the Ward part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer, it looks like his plan to sweet-talk information out of Skye is in effect, but it also looks like he wants to tell her he's not a good man. We also see Skye looking devastated. Is she going to find out whose side Ward is on during this episode?

I focused a fair amount of time on Ward's motives in our breakdown of last night's episode, as it seems like Ward is loyal to Garrett above anything else. So I'm curious to see what we learn about him as it relates to Skye, Coulson and the rest of his team. Are any of his feelings toward those people genuine? Or was it all a ploy? I think it would be very interesting if he's conflicted on that. So we'll have to wait and see how that plays out.
