American Horror Story's Alexandra Breckenridge To Return For Coven
Taissa Farmiga and Denis O'Hare aren't the only American Horror Story first-season stars making a comeback to the series for its third season. Alexandra Breckenridge, who played young-Moira in the series' first season is reportedly set to return for Season 3, American Horror Story: Coven, joining a host of new and returning cast members already locked into appear in the FX horror series this fall.
In the first season of American Horror Story, Breckenridge played (murder)housemaid Moira, though not everyone in the Harmon family saw her as Breckenridge. While Vivien (Connie Britton) and her daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga) saw Moira as Frances Conroy, Harmon family patriarch Ben (Dylan McDermott) saw the maid as the beautiful and sexy young Breckenridge, who was often making advances at him. That was just one of many bizarre things that took place in that household.
Rather than telling the same story each season, AHS has bucked that pretty major TV drama trend by starting fresh each season with a new story and a new set of characters, though the cast doesn't change quite as drastically. A number of cast members returned to the series for American Horror Story: Asylum last fall, but Breckenridge was unfortunately not among them. THR reports that she's on board for Coven, the upcoming season of the series, citing a tweet from co-creator Ryan Murphy. AHS: Coven is still somewhat shrouded in mystery in terms of the plot. Between the title and the rumors, witches seem like a good possibility for this season's theme, following an insane asylum and a haunted house.
So we don't yet know who Breckenridge is playing - I'm sort of hoping she's somehow related to Conroy's character - but we do know she's joining a pretty fantastic cast, which includes returners Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Denis O'Hare, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy. There are also a number newcomers to the series, including Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe.
In Addition to American Horror Story, Breckenridge's credits include True Blood, Family Guy, Life Unexpected, Dirt and The Ex List. She also appeared in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's seventh season. She was one of the students at the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High School that ended up befriending Dawn. I remember thinking we'd actually see more of her and the other kid that Buffy saved, but they never reappeared again. If that's not enough of a blast from the past, she also appeared in an episode of Freaks and Geeks.
While we wait for Season 3 of AHS to premiere this fall (October), those who want to watch or revisit the first season of the series can check it out on Netflix and/or Amazon Prime.
