American Horror Story Season 2 Spoilers: Co-Creator Confirms Location And Other Details
We’ve heard a few things about the second season of American Horror Story, though much of it has had to do with casting, and some rumors about the new setting. There’s finally some confirmation on where the series will take place for Season 2. Read no further if you don’t want to be spoiled!
What we knew for sure about Season 2 of American Horror Story was that the second season would take place somewhere different and follow a completely new set of characters, some of whom would be played by returning cast members (Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe). The second season was rumored to take place at some kind of mental institution, which would certainly be a fitting backdrop for the next creepy chapter of this series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, series co-creator Ryan Murphy spoke about the show at a panel at the TV Academy in North Hollywood, and said, "[Season 2] is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica.” So that pretty much seals up the setting for us, and it sounds full of potential.
In another interesting twist, it sounds like the story will be set in a different time period from the first season:
Between all of the flashbacks during Season 1, we know the show doesn’t shy away from toying with different eras, but it sounds like Season 2 could be a flashback in itself, assuming the “different time period” is at some point in the past.
Returning star Zachary Quinto seems enthusiastic about the opportunity to return to the series in a different role, saying:
Finally, for those interested to know what kind of role musician/Voice-mentor Adam Levine is playing, we may be in for something “sexy” from the character. It also sounds like Levine was immediately on board with whatever they had in mind for the role:
